On Saturday, April 20, 18 new deacons were ordained in Paris, among them Silnéus Rivelt, a Haitian Jesuit currently studying at the Sèvres Center in Paris. Silnéus is one of three Haitian deacons who, after years of study, are preparing for their future priestly ordination.
This moment is an important step for the Jesuit Mission of Haiti, which currently has 24 students in different stages of formation, in addition to 8 novices who will join the 26 priests and 3 Haitian brothers for the future of the Society of Jesus.
These new deacons, now in preparation for the priesthood, are the hope for the new Church emerging in the era of the new evangelization.
