RENEWING THE SPIRIT: JESUITS OF HATI

In an emotional encounter marked by hope and the longing for spiritual renewal, the Jesuits of Haiti gathered for the second time since the end of the pandemic to carry out their Spiritual Exercises. The event took place during the week of July 9th to 16th in the welcoming house of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Tabarre, located very close to Port-au-Prince.

Under the guidance of Father Jean Yves Grenet, SJ, from the Province Europe Occidentel, the retreat became a opportune moment to reflect on the journey of life, regain strength, and align their path with the Lord.

The Spiritual Exercises, an Ignatian practice, provided a space of silence and deep prayer to connect with the presence of God in everyday life.

The gathering concluded with a thanksgiving Mass, during which the participants renewed their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, as well as their commitment to the Jesuit mission in Haiti.

The Jesuits returned to their respective communities renewed in spirit and with the determination to continue working amidst the uncertainties that Haiti is currently facing.
